• Messy and mislabelled IA & navigation yield poor engagement on various sections throughout the product for novice users.

Slickdeals.net is a free, user-driven deal sharing site with a mission to provide consumers an avenue to collaborate and share information in order to make the best shopping decisions.

Slickdeals achieves this by providing its users with a forum for communication and various shopping tools. Slickdeals.net prides itself on being user and community focused, never allowing paid placement for frontpage deal listings.

“Saving over $4 billion since 1999”

Being a crowd-sourced product, the network effect is especially critical to SlickDeals' success. So as a "lurking" freeloader (but a fan) of the site, I saw opportunities for UX improvements on the site to improve initial adoption as well as long term retention for SlickDeals.
